Events
Our Summer Program is designed to allow Summer Associates the opportunity to get to know our attorneys and staff both personally and professionally. We provide numerous opportunities throughout the summer for our attorneys to introduce Summer Associates to life at our firm as well as Springfield, Missouri's social scene. For example, the 2007 Summer Events included:
- Springfield Cardinals Games: Summer Associates enjoyed watching the Springfield Cardinals, a top Minor League team in the AA division, from the comfort of our Luxury Suite at Hammons Field.
- Art Walk: An incredible opportunity to explore the thriving art community in downtown Springfield on the first Friday of each month. Galleries, theatres, studios, and restaurants open their doors to offer exhibitions, visiting artists, and musicians. World-renowned artists showcase their talents and are on hand to meet with guests.
- BBQ in the Park: We brought blankets and a Frisbee to enjoy Springfield's lovely Phelps Grove Park. Everyone was invited to throw some hotdogs on the grill and spoon up potato salad while we relaxed and got to know our Summer Associates.
- Bowling Party: Summer Associates tested their bowling skills against firm personnel when we hit the lanes for an evening of bowling and an ugly shoes contest.
- Wine Tasting: The award-winning Brown Derby International Marketplace offers the premier vintages of wines from all over the world. Sip on your favorite Merlot or try an exotic Rioja. It's just around the corner from the office but it offers a truly international flavor.
- Lunch with Partners: A great way to get to know the Partners of our Springfield office. Each week, two or three Partners took the Summer Associates to lunch for a relaxed chat. It's an opportunity to ask about their career paths, highlights, and pitfalls to avoid as a new attorney.
- After Work Social Hours: An even better way to get to know our attorneys and explore the social scene of Springfield. Some were planned, some informal, but Summer Associates joined us for cocktails or iced tea at a different local watering hole each time.
- Summer Service Project: We are proud of our commitment to community involvement, and the 2007 Summer Associates had the opportunity to experience that commitment with a group service project. Many attorneys are involved in different civic and community organizations, so the possibilities are endless.
- Firmwide Summer Associate Weekend Retreat: Summer Associates got to know each other and learned more about our firm at a firmwide social gathering in St. Louis.
- Feature Dinner Event: A catered event at one of the attorney's homes with spouses and significant others invited.
- Farewell Lunch: We'll miss you when you're gone! The Summer Associates chose their lunch destination for the fond farewell.
