Summer Programs: Peoria, IL

Overview

The ultimate goal of the Summer Associate Program in Peoria is to enable the Summer Associate to experience life as an Associate Attorney. To accomplish this task we strive to provide each Summer Associate with a variety of challenging and complex legal assignments to work on, and to allow the Summer Associate to develop a relationship with each of the Peoria attorneys beyond the office environment. As the atmosphere in the Peoria office is informal and collegial, the Summer Associate Program is designed to provide a similar experience.

While each Summer Associate will have an assigned mentor to assist them in getting acclimated to the Peoria office, answer any questions that may arise, etc., each of the Peoria attorneys also maintains an open door policy. Summer Associates are encouraged to ask questions about their assignments, seek guidance from the attorneys on strategies for addressing the problems presented, and offer their insights on particular issues.

The assignments given to the Summer Associates will be the exact same types of matters that a new Associate is asked to perform. If a Summer Associate prefers a particular practice area of the law, he or she will receive many assignments in that chosen area. Additionally, the Summer Associates will likely receive a number of assignments from other practice areas – just as would a new Associate Attorney. In part, this is dictated by the size of our Peoria office and the breadth of the practice of law by attorneys in Peoria.

The Summer Associates will also have many opportunities to interact with our Peoria attorneys outside the office, at happy hours, baseball games, golf outings, and office parties. There is also a firmwide Summer Associate event each year, providing the Summer Associates with an opportunity to learn more about our firm and to get to know attorneys and Summer Associates in our other offices.
