Mentoring
Our Kansas City office provides each Summer Associate with his or her own attorney mentor. An attorney mentor is an excellent resource for a Summer Associate with respect to summer program assignments, legal skills, practice management, and general questions regarding the summer program, our firm and the practice of law. Attorney mentors are typically 3-5 year Associates with significant experience in the Summer Associate program (as former Summer Associates, summer program coordinators, or both). A Summer Associate and his or her attorney mentor meet once or twice a week (although more frequent informal meetings are common) to discuss the status of ongoing assignments, upcoming summer program events and feedback regarding the summer program. As each Summer Associate quickly discovers, the mentor/mentee relationship helps a Summer Associate get the most out of the summer program experience and provides a valuable resource when the Summer Associate begins his or her career as an Associate Attorney at our firm.
