  3. What is the firm's position on diversity?

    We recognize the invaluable benefit that diverse individuals and perspectives have on our firm culture and the representation of our clients. Our firm and our Partners traditionally have assumed an active role in encouraging and promoting a diverse firm and legal practice through, for instance, participation in diversity hiring initiatives, supporting the efforts of our local minority bar organizations, mentoring diversity law students, and participating in diversity-focused law school seminars.

    We have further solidified our commitment to diversity through the establishment of a Diversity Committee. Our Diversity Committee is a representative group of forward-thinking, motivated individuals who are focused on coordinating and expanding our firm's diversity initiative and goals. The result of these initiatives is our team of attorneys who are diverse as individuals, but unified in our enthusiasm in the practice of law in our communities.

  4. Do your Associates participate in the management and governance of the firm?

    Yes, Associates are involved in various administrative and management roles, such as serving on our Hiring and Recruiting Committees, conducting interviews and participating in hiring decisions. We depend on all Associates to play a significant role in the growth and success of our firm.

  5. What role do Partners and senior attorneys play in the training of Associates?

    Associates are encouraged to seek out advice and guidance from the Partners and senior attorneys in our firm.

  6. What can you tell me about Husch Blackwell Sanders' use of technology?

    Our attorneys, Summer Associates, and professional staff enjoy the most advanced technologies available to serve our clients. Because access to information and resources improves our attorneys' productivity and our clients' satisfaction, we provide each of our lawyers with a laptop computer. Our firm also has a direct initiative to focus on secure external access to documents, email and software programs. By utilizing current document management applications along with the latest security trends, we provide the most current technology that is provided in the industry.

    We have a seasoned staff of practice support professionals that assist in managing the project and costs of litigation management, from the initial stages of discovery all the way through a high-tech trial. Our firm provides cutting edge technology our attorneys and clients can depend on during trial. We have experienced trial specialists that consult with the trial team to manage any and all technology needs. We have the ability to wire courtrooms, design and operate complex presentations and set up complete mobile office environments for war room support. We have most equipment on site for quick setup and cost effective solutions.

  7. Does the firm pay for outside CLE programs?

    Yes, we will pay for outside CLE programs. Our firm also offers in-house Associate training and internal CLEs by Partners and Associates.

  8. Does Husch Blackwell Sanders encourage pro bono work?

    Our attorneys devote numerous hours to pro bono activities and other charitable causes. We encourage our Associates to become involved in our Volunteer Lawyers Program, a program designed to provide legal services for those without the financial ability to acquire needed legal advice. Our attorneys are frequently recognized by local publications and receive numerous awards for their dedication to public service.

  9. What is the firm's policy on casual dress?

  10. How much do first year Associates earn?

    New Associates earn $120,000 in St. Louis (effective September 1, 2008); $110,000 in Kansas City (effective September 1, 2008); $90,000 in Omaha and Lincoln; $88,000 in Chattanooga; $85,000 in Springfield and Jefferson City; $83,000 in Memphis and $80,000 in Peoria. In Washington, D.C., Chicago and Denver, first year Associate salaries are determined on an individual basis.

    We are proud of our highly generous bonus system for Associates. We offer one of the most financially rewarding bonus programs of any law firm.
