One of the great things about our practice group is the fact that no Associate is assigned exclusively to a particular client or a particular type of transaction. Each Associate receives a well-rounded education in all aspects of the transactional practice. The last thing our Partners want is an Associate to feel like he or she is simply "turning the handle" on a daily basis. If a particular type of transaction interests you, you are obviously encouraged to develop a more specialized set of practice skills with respect to that transaction. But no Associate is forced into a particular role within our group. Whether you want to be a generalist or a specialist, there is a place for you in our department.

Because we are trained in a wide variety of transactions, we are able to work interchangeably on deals to help reduce workflow issues that commonly develop in large firms. Our ability to work interchangeably on different deals also means that there is no competitive/territorial sentiment among Associates. We all recognize that working as a team ensures our success as Associates and as a practice group. The collegial and friendly environment in our practice group is a key component to our growth as attorneys.

My day usually starts with a quick check of the calendar to see what deals are in the works. From that point my day can go in any number of different directions depending on where a deal takes me. Whether I'm drafting loan agreements, going to public hearings for real estate development deals, advising national lenders on Missouri and Kansas compliance issues, or negotiating equity investments in up-and-coming business ventures, a day in my life as a Husch Blackwell Sanders Kansas City business transactions Associate is never boring.
